Wednesday July 18: In the prayer and silent reflection of their retreat day yesterday, the Sisters were to consider which Sister would have the qualities needed by the new General Superior at this time. After the prayer this morning, each delegate submitted the names of two Sisters whom she recommended. While these were being tabulated, the small same-language groups met to prepare one or two questions for the response of the Sisters who were recommended. Once back in the large group, these were shared. The six Sisters who received the highest number of recommendations will receive these questions for their prayerful consideration, and in a few days they will share their response to two of them.

In the afternoon proposals and recommendations were voted upon. The Vesper Service for the Feast of Saint Macrina was celebrated in Santa Sofia Church by Father Carlos Meketiuk OSBM., the Superior of the Basilian Fathers Commmunity on the Aventine Hill in Rome. The various parts were sung in the different languages. Afterwards, the Sisters with lit candles processed to the crypt, where a moving Panachida Service was celebrated for Mother Claudia and the other deceased general superiors.

After supper, the Sisters bid farewell to Bishop Florentin who was leaving Rome.
