Friday, July 20 – The Feast of Saint Elias:
The delegates first gathered to hear the responses and thoughts of the Sisters whom they had recommended as having the qualities needed at this time for the General Superior. This was followed by the Divine Liturgy in Old Slavonic celebrated by Father Cyril Basil, SJ. Then the Sisters reconvened in the Chapter room, and proceeded with the election of the General Superior. Father Cyril presided over the election. Sister Miriam Claire Kowal of the Jesus Lover of Humanity Province of Fox-Chase Manor, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. was elected the General Superior.

Sister Alphonsa Danovich, who served as General Superior for the past six years, presented her with the seal of the Order, the keys to the Generalate House and to the archives of the Order. All of the Sisters then individually offered congratulations to Sister Miriam Claire.
