07 08 16 4On Sunday May 22 joining the Mother Prayer groups from various parts of Italy and Spain participating in this annual pilgrimage were Sisters Lydia Anna Sawka, OSBM and Anastasia Stulkivska, OSBM from the Generalate. The day’s prayerful program began at noon with a Moleben to the Blessed Mother celebrated at the ourdoor Grotto of Our Lady.

With church banners held aloft, the pilgrims then processed through a Jubilee Holy Door and into the new sanctuary. There the hundreds of pilgrims prayed for a variety of intentions.

Among the many prayers offered for reflection by each group of “Mothers Prayers”, Sister Lydia Anna presented a reading from Holy Scriptures. A Hierachal Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Most Reverend Dionysio Lachovicz, Apostolic Visitator for Ukrainian Catholics in Italy and Spain, and con-celebrated by Rev. Mauricio Popadiuk, OSBM, General Councillor of the Basilian Fathers, and Rev. Serhij Palamarchuk, chaplain for the Mothers Prayers groups in Italy.

A group of seminarians led the heart-felt singing of the responses. After the Liturgy, Most Reverend Dionysius was greeted by the regional director of “Mothers Prayers” on the occasion of his upcoming birthday.
