Having been invited by Sr. Makariia Glyuzdyn, the Superior of the community of Basilian Sisters ministering at the Saint Sofia Basilica in Rome, the Sisters from the Generalate participated in a day of spiritual renewal in preparation for the Feast of Saint Basil the Great.

Most Reverend Dionisio Lachovicz, OSBM, Visitator for Ukrainian Catholics in Italy, was invited to share his reflections, during which he emphasized the Blessed Mother as an example to follow in our lives. The Blessed Mother is a model of a free woman, who does not succumb to fear and, therefore, allows others the freedom to be themselves. Bishop Dionisio encouraged everyone to live the Word of God – the true Light, which illuminates the dark nights of our lives. He stressed the importance of knowing how to listen and how to serve.

All present are sincerely grateful to God for the opportunity to participate in the celebration of Divine Liturgy, meals and spiritual sharing, during this occasion of renewal in our journey in the monastic life.
