Clergy, student-seminarians, and Sisters-staff at the Pontifical Collegio Ucraino of St. Giosafat on the Gianicolo visited the Sisters at the Generalate on December 27, 2015 with joyful carolling and good wishes for the Christmas season and the coming New Year.
The Annual Pilgrimage of Ukrainians in Italy and Spain took place on December 26, 2015 to St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican City, where all entered through the Holy Doors of the Jubilee Year of Mercy. A Hierarchal Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Most Reverend Dionisio Lachovicz and con-celebrated by Most Reverend Ireynej Bilyk and many other clergy.
On December 14, 2015 M. Daniela Stefkova, OSBM, recently-elected Provincial Superior of the Mother of God Province in Presov, Slovakia, arrived, bringing Sister Emanuela Vavrekova, assisting her move to the Generalate in Rome.
On December 13, 2015, as part of celebrating the Year of Consecrated Life, some of our Sisters at the Generalate accepted an invitation and attended a social gathering and prayer at the Generalate of our next-door neighbors, the Franciscan Sisters, Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary.
The official proclamation and beginning of the JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY took place on December 8, 2015 in St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican City, when His Holiness Pope Francis opened the Jubilee Doors of the Basilica and prayed before the XVII century Ukrainian icon of the Blessed Mother - Door of Mercy currently found in Yaroslava (Poland).
