In response to an invitation from Reverend Father Jurij Korolevsky with the blessing of Most Reverend Bishop Vasil’ Tuchapets’, Kharkiv Exarch of the UGCC, in 2017 two Basilian Sisters from the Most Holy Trinity Province in Ukraine began a pastoral ministry in the city of Poltava.

The first Sisters sent to the mission were Sister Avhustyna Kostyk, OSBM and Sister Venedykta Harazdovska, OSBM. As of the present day Sisters Dia Zahurska, OSBM and Sister Markella Venher, OSBM are carrying out this initiative.
On May 20, 2018 the Sisters participated in a special event – the blessings of the cornerstone for the Church of Great-Martyr George, which is planned as a joint church for the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
We pray that this courageous step is a beginning to a path of Church unity in Ukraine.
