For the third year the Sisters of the Order of Saint Basil the Great in the Jesus, Lover of Humanity Province (Fox Chase Manor, Pennsylvania, USA) along with the Saint Sophia Religious Association of Ukrainian Catholics, Inc. sponsored a summer camp for children ages 6 to 12 years old during June 25 – 29, 2018.

The camp took place at the Basilian Spirituality Center and on the Motherhouse grounds. The camp, conducted in both the English and Ukrainian languages, was offered to teach and preserve the spiritual and cultural heritage of Ukraine. The theme this year was “Vacation with God: The Ten Commandments”. The 30 participating children were involved in catechism classes, songs, dances, handcrafts, embroidery, games and a drama club. During the camp, the participants had the opportunities to visit Beth Shalom Synagogue and the Ukrainian Heritage Museum at Manor College.

The camp was organized and run through the joint efforts of Sister Teodora Kopyn, Sister Olha Mykhayliuk, Sister Vasylia Khvasta (Basilian Sisters) and Mrs. Irene Ivankovych (of the St. Sophia Religious Association); the assistance of volunteers Andrew Perrong, Catherine Gorodenchuk, and Melania Shnitser was greatly appreciated. The Sisters’ Chaplain, Very Reverend Monsignor Peter Waslo celebrated Divine Liturgy for the participants. All anxiously anticipate the summer camp next year.
