On December 24, 2017 the observance of the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lord commenced with the celebration of Great Compline with Lytia in Christ the Kind Chapel in the monastery of the Generalate of the Basilian Fathers in Rome.

Later at the Generalate Home of the Order of Sisters of Saint Basil the Great the Sisters shared prosphora and the traditional 12-course Christmas Eve supper with their guests Very Reverend David Nazar, SJ (Rector of the Pontifical Oriental Institute) and Reverend Ivan Ambrosij Samus (Secretary of the Congregation of the Synod of Bishops). General Superior Mother Dia greeted each person wishing them immersion into the mystery of the Incarnation of Christ, which leads to the journey along the path of salvation. The meal was accompanied with renderings of numerous carols, filling the hearts of all with joy and deep peace. On the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lord, December 25, seven Basilian Sisters from the mission community at Santa Sofia in Boccea and Reverend Ivan Ambrosijj Samus joined the Generalate Sisters caroling in the Generalate Chapel, then moved to the refectory for a festive dinner. It was a truly memorable day of festivities.
On the Feast of Saint Basil the Great and the New Year the Basilian Sisters were invited to the Generalate of the Basilian Fathers, where they jointly praised and thanked God for all gifts received and remembered the founder of their Order. The celebration was shared with guests and members of other communities. After a lovely dinner, the Sisters returned to their Generalate Home, where they welcomed the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate and the Catechists of Saint Anne for coffee and homemade sweets. Joyful caroling and praising the newborn Christ Child continued through the afternoon.
The following day the Sisters at the Generalate invited Sr. Michaelina Torres, OSBM (from Albano, Italy) and Sister Christine Anderson (Faith and Praxis) to join them for dinner and sharing of memories and life experiences. Ukrainian carols resounded through the room enhanced with an Italian carol sung by Sister Michaelina. Time passed quickly in this pleasant company. The sharing of the celebration of the Nativity of Our Lord gives an opportunity to spend time together with others and leads to a deeper understanding of God’s presence in our lives and in those around us.
