On April 30, 2017 the organization, “Mothers in Prayer” at the Saint Sofia Basilica marked the seventh anniversary of their founding.
As the opening of the commemoration, a Moleben to the Mother of God was celebrated in thanksgiving for all graces received. At the conclusion of the service, Reverend Mark Semehen gave a spiritual reflection in which he pointed to the Blessed Virgin Mary as the perfect example of motherhood. The mothers then proceeded with their traditional prayers, bringing forth before Almighty God their intentions, including their children and peace for Ukraine.
Sr. Nazariya Mykhaylyuk, OSBM, gave a reading from Holy Scripture and a spiritual reflection. “As an example, we have the women-myrrh-bearers who courageously went forth, not fearing anything, to Jesus. They carried an alabaster jar with aromatic myrrh to anoint the body of their Lord. Let us be women carrying forth “ointments of peace” – good works, prayers, humility, service”, stressed Sister Nazariya.
Participating in the celebration was the main coordinator of the organization in Italy, Mrs. Lydia Vukovych.
