50 years from passing to eternal life of Mother Ana Maria Fekete

Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. (Hebrews 13,7)

On 4 January, 2020 there were 50 years since the first founder of the Basilian Sisters from Romania, M. Ana Maria Fekete have passed to the eternal life.

To point this event, the Basilian Sisters from the entire Province of „Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary” met to the Monastery „Annunciation” in Gherla, on Saturday 11 January, 2020.

During the Holy Mass the Sisters praised and thanked to God for M. Ana and her work started at Gherla as well as for all the graces and blessings He has overwhelmed them in these fifty years. There were years full of blessings, sacrifices and joy, in which God showed His mercy through His infinite love.

M. Veridiana made a presentation in images of the important moments in M. Ana's life highlighting in particular the steps taken to found the Community and to receive ten candidates in novitiate. There followed another presentation including the issue of the detention period using documents found in the Archives of the National Council for Studying the Security Archives.

We gratefully reminded of M. Ana Fekete, who listened to the whispers of the Holy Spirit and began the foundation of a new community, she said "YES" to God's plan in the most difficult times of the Greek Catholic Church. When the Greek Catholic Church began to be persecuted, she started a new community of Sisters who would witness Christ through their ministry and life, that community grew and developed despite the persecutions it was subjected to.

It was a day of joy and communion for the Sisters who came from different communities of the Province and the meeting was in a symbolic place, Gherla, the cradle of the Basilian Sisters Community.

We thank God for this meeting and we pray Him to give M. Ana eternal happiness.
