January 18, 2016 – Most Reverend Mario Antonio Cargnello , Archbishop of Salta (Argentina) and Rev. Matias Jaroz from Argentina visited the Generalate of the Basilian Sisters. The guests and Sisters Mariela and Atanasia fondy recalled their times of ministry in Salta.

MOTHER MARIA OLGA was one of 10 children born to Thomas and Anna Afinec who, during difficult times, left their native Ukraine and migrated to Argentina in 1910. Olga was born on 11th September, 1919 destined to become Mother Maria.
After pastoral visitations in Argentina, Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytskyj, revealed a desire to send the Basilian nuns to the Ukrainian people.
Because of his efforts, Mother Sofronia Erdeli OSBM, and Sister Margareta Fendo OSBM arrived to Argentina from Galicia (Pidmyhaylivtsi) on the 20th August 1939.

February 23, 2016 - Sister Dariya Turkiv arrived from Ukraine to minister as Archivist for the Archives of the UGCC, located on Via Boccea. She will join the community of our Basilian Sisters at St. Sophia’s.
After living 84 years, many of them dedicated to demanding and tireless work, His Beatitude Lubomyr Cardinal Husar, Major Archbishop Emeritus of Kyiv-Halyc. in the UGCC entered the heavenly kingdom for his eternal reward. He was a wise Father, who appealed to the conscious of Ukrainians, as well as others, sharing deep wisdom and always bringing and instilling a spirit of peace.
Sister Lydia Anna Sawka, Vicar General, visited our Sisters in Brazil and Argentina during the months of March and April 2017, as requested to assist with Canonical Visitations by Mother Dia Stasiuk, General Superior. In Brazil the Sisters of the Delegature of St. Macrina have their main monastery and novitiate in Curitiba. They have two other homes, one in Canoinhas and the other in Reserva. Although there are only 10 Sisters in the Delegature, they have a variety of ministries and some work in service-related jobs to provide for the financial needs of the Sisters.
The Basilian Sisters Governance Commission met at the Generalate in Rome from June 5 to 9, 2017. Members of the Commission once again reviewed the X General Chapter’s mandates, shared their impressions and findings gleaned during the presentations of possible governance models in our provinces, Vice Provinces and Delegatures.
During the Great Fast on March 25, 2017 novice Viktorija Eršeg professed Temporary Vows for three years in the Vice-Province of Saint Basil and Saint Macrina accepted by Vice-Province Superior Sister Fevronija Rapljenović, OSBM.
