During the Great Fast, Sisters from the Generalate participated in special services of the Way of the Cross (Stations of the Cross). On March 24, 2019 the annual Way of the Cross took place at the Saint Sofia Minor Basilica, where the cross was carried to different stations by various religious organizations, monastic Orders and communities.

The Sisters of the Order of St. Basil the Great were represented by the Sisters from the Most Holy Trinity Province (Ukraine) missioned to St. Sofia and Sister Nazariya Mykhayliuk, OSBM representing the Generalate.

A most unique invitation came from the Benedictine Fathers for our Sisters to participate in the Way of the Cross, which took place on April 5 in the Church of St. Anselm on the Aventine Hill. Participating from the Generalate were Sister Lydia Anna Sawka, Sister Nazariya Mykhyaliuk and Sister Atanasia Anheluk. Reflections at the eighth station were read by Sister Kornelia Zhupnyk, OSBM from the Most Holy Trinity Province in Ukraine, who is studying in Rome at the Pontifical Institute of Spirituality (Teresianum). This service of the Way of the Cross was especially celebrated for monastics and served to unite in prayer members of various Orders and religious communities.

On April 7, 2019 Sister Nazariya Mykhayliuk, OSBM joined the Ukrainian group of Mothers in Prayer in Italy in the Way of the Cross, which took place at Santa Scala (Holy Stairs) Church, located near St. John Lateran Basilica in Rome. The service was celebrated by Reverend Father Efrem Konchak, OSBM. Following the service, the participants had the opportunity to climb on their knees the Holy Stairs which Christ walked on His was to Pontius Pilate. This is the first time in 300 years that the wood covering the stairs has been removed for 40 days allowing pilgrims to actually see and touch the original stairs, worn and grooved in many places by years of pilgrims praying on their knees.
