Day five of the XI General Chapter was begun with matins followed by the Divine Liturgy. The Liturgy was celebrated in Romanian by Fr. Vasile Man, Vice Rector of the Collegio Pio Romeno and the responses were sung by the Sisters from Romania.

The General Chapter body spent most of this Saturday, the sixth day of the Chapter, working through about 50 proposals received from members of the Order from all of our units.

The day began with Divine Liturgy and prayer sung by the Sisters from Slovakia in Old Slavonic. Father Mark who works at the Oriental Congregation served the Liturgy.

On July 17, 2019, the XI General Chapter in Rome elected a new General Superior of the Sisters of the Order of Saint Basil. The newly elected General Superior is the 49 year old Provincial of the Sisters of Saint Basil of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Province in Romania, Mother Marcela Runcan.

Sisters spent the day completing the election of the General Council, the Assistant General Superior and two alternates for General Council in case of the need to replace someone.

The last day of the Chapter fell on the Feast of St. Macrina.

Sister Mary Bernarda Arkatin, OSBM, (1922 - 2019) a member of the Order of the Sisters of Saint Basil the Great, Jesus Lover of Humanity Province, initiated and continued summer journeys of goodwill to the needy, orphaned and handicapped of Ukraine for more than 20 years.

The Basilian Sisters in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Province in Romania hold an annual pilgrimage at their monastery of St. Mary in Baia Mare in August.

In September, 2019 the Basilian Sisters of the Province of Saint Michael in Croatia in the city of Shid, Serbia, solemly opened the jubilee year on the occasion of the 100th centennial of their Province.  Most Rev. Bishop Dzudzar, Eparch of St. Michael Eparchy in Serbia, concelebrated the Divine Liturgy with the local clergy in the presence of the Province administration, headed by the Provincial Superior Sister Daria Fina, OSBM along with the attendance of numerous guests.
